(More customer reviews)The "Linux" OS included is the Asus Express Gate which is a limited fast boot OS.Ubuntu 10.04 64 installed perfectly from a USB stick created via Ubuntu's "System > Admin > Startup Disk Creator".Press F8 during boot to select the USB stick as the boot device.
Ubuntu 10.04 boots in 40 seconds! and wakes from Suspend in 6 seconds!My Kill-a-watt reported idle power consumption at 13 watts and Suspend power consumption at 1 watt (which is the same as when the Eee Box is "off" so I intend to just Suspend when not using the PC). The EB1007 is almost totally silent - fan/air noise can only be heard a few inches from the PC. I REALLY LIKE like the small size, fast Boot & Resume, low power consumption and silent operation.
Works well for web browsing, OpenOffice, etc. Like my Atom based netbook this is a totally adequate 'standard use' desktop PC at least when using Ubuntu Linux. I have not tried the Windows OS on an Atom based PC yet so can't comment on that.
1 star off because the rear audio jack is 'loose' causing the audio cable to slide out slightly and disconnect if the unit is moved. I hope to get that fixed under warranty.
