(More customer reviews)Drive #4 failed.I replaced it with a new Hitachi Deskstar, the same as the box came with, and it just keeps flashing red.It does not automatically rebuild.If you read the docs for the RAID Setting utility, it seems there is only an option to restructure (which will wipe all data), not rebuild.Furthermore, the Raid Setting Utility can not find the DS Quattro at all (but the OS can find it).Buffalo's tech support has not responded, and from reading other reviews and postings about them it seems unlikely that they ever will (and if they do, that the response will be worthless).The docs and utils are useless to me as well, having few options to begin with and not even finding the drive on my machine.So now I have a 1.5TB RAID rather than 2TB because there seems to be no way for me to bring the failed #4 drive back online despite having replaced the drive itself.
Steer clear of Buffalo.It seems like good value for the money, but as soon as one of your drives fails (and it will), it becomes a supreme waste of time and money to try to recover.
